If you notice any site errors or have an idea for our eBook store, we'd love to hear it no matter how small.

Your first time?
We recommend you download one of our test eBooks to make sure you have the right settings on your computer.

For the most part, you'll find the same ebooks at each virtual online ebook store, just differences in price. Happily, I found the Diesel eBook download store to be the exception to the rule. Not only did they have most of the titles I've found at other sites online, they had a nice selection I hadn't seen anywhere else, in particular, the complete collection of original Sherlock Holmes novels all in one compendium, and in Palm eReader format, just how I like.

A Mind for Trade
A Great New Solar Queen Adventure

Hesprid IV can't be that bad. Especially when it holds such a huge deposit of lucrative cielanite ore. Or so thinks Dane Thorson and the rest of the crew of the Solar Queen, and its new sister ship, the recently recovered derelict North Star. The plan seems simple -- make landfall, mine ore, leave.

But when huge electromagnetic monsoons strike, and a strange lifeform makes deadly attacks on the miners, the mining grinds almost to a halt. Then the real threat arrives: the crew of the North Star, long ago stranded here, wants off the planet... at any cost.

It'll take every ounce of the Solar Queen crew's savvy and experience to make it off Hesprid IV with their lives, let alone a profit. And that's assuming they get past the pirates lying in wait on the far side of the star system...

"This is vintage Norton with a new hard edge. Forget all your preconceptions about collaborations. This is a wonderful blend of story-telling skills. Readers who began with Andre Norton can enjoy it all over again -- and a whole new generation of readers can discover what they've been missing until now."
   C. J. CHERRYH

"The plot is tight, the suspense and action are continuous, the characters are as engaging as ever, and the whole book gives hardly a clue that the original concept dates back to the 1960s. Wow!"

"A delightful bit of SF."

    Palm/eReader Information:
Palm/eReader eBooks can be read on your Palm, Pocket PC, Windows or Mac computer. The Palm/eReader can display styled text (italicized, underlined, etc.) and formatting as well as perform functions not found on other Palm OS eBook readers.
What are the requirements for Palm/eReader?

You'll need a Palm OS or PocketPC/Windows CE Personal Digital Assistant (PDA), or a Windows or Macintosh desktop (or laptop) PC.

    Palm OS Hardware:

    • PDAs including: Palm III series, V series, VII series, m100 series, m125 series, m500 series; Handspring Visor series; TRG Pro; Sony CLIE; IBM WorkPad.
    • 134KB of free memory for the Palm Reader application, plus sufficient free memory for each book (varies from 200KB to 2MB, depending upon the length of the book).
    • Palm Personal will not work with the Palm Reader. It doesn't have enough memory to handle all of our eBooks and there are some important technical differences in the Palm Personal's operating system that make it a less suitable platform for the Palm Reader.

    Palm OS Software:

    • Palm OS 3.0 or greater.
    • Synchronization software for downloading the Palm Reader and eBooks to your Palm device (e.g., the Palm Desktop software)

    PocketPC/Windows CE Hardware:

    • PocketPC series handhelds
    • 167-260K of free memory for the Palm Reader application, plus sufficient free memory for each book (varies from 200KB to 2MB, depending upon the length of the book)
    • 256KB free program space

    PocketPC/Windows CE Software:

    • PocketPC or PocketPC 2002
    • Synchronization software for downloading the Palm Reader and eBooks to your PocketPC device (e.g., the ActiveSync 3.1 software).

    Windows:

    • Windows 98 / ME / NT 4.0 / 2000 / XP

    Macintosh:

    • Mac OS 8.6 or later, using CarbonLib 1.5 or later/Mac OS X 10.1 or later
Is it true I can the Palm/eReader is not limited to one format?

The Palm Reader can read doc files. A doc file is a type of PDA file that ends in either .pdb or .prc. These text files have been specifically packaged for use on a PDA. Doc format is pretty much a standard for PDA documents, and the latest version of the Palm Reader can view them.

Can I use the Palm/eReader with the new Pocket PC's?

Yes, the Palm Reader is compatible with the following PocketPCs:

    • Hewlett-Packard Jornada
      420, 430, 430se, 540, 545, 547, 548, 680, 690, 720, and 820
    • Compaq
