"Disruptive behaviour is the extreme failure to conform to the expectations of caregivers, teachers, or society, going beyond the day-to-day disciplinary problems many parents are familiar with.  In Part One of this book practitioners are provided with a conceptual basis for understanding children’s disruptive behavior and its relationship to parenting behavior. In Part Two, a detailed program is presented that provides practitioners with a framework and materials that can be used with birth and foster parents to improve the understanding of parenting, and the effective application of parenting skills in both ordinary disciplinary as well as extremely challenging situations.  "

In many years of practice the authors have met parents who feel bruised (literally and figuratively) and abused (physically and emotionally) by young offspring, as well as older adolescents. Others, we suspect, remain silent - too embarrassed to admit the intimidati ... read full excerpt from Managing Children's Disruptive Behaviour: A Guide for Practitioners Working with Parents and Foster Parents ebook
