UNIVERSAL PREVENTION FOR
ADOLESCENT GIRLS
The Go Grrrls Program

The decibel level rises as the last bell rings. Middle school students flood the
hallways, their voices loud and their laughter echoing off the walls. The participants
in our new after-school program find their way to the alcove near the school
entrance, where we wait to meet and greet them. Slowly they trickle in, girls of a
remarkable variety of shapes, sizes, skin tones, and levels of development. I think
to myself that during the course of this program I hope my co-leader and I can
help each of them to appreciate her uniqueness and natural vitality. (from the
