Winning owners have characteristics and behaviors that set them apart from
their peers. Most Yankee owners brought an opportunistic spirit to the team
and added their special touch to enriching the Yankee tradition. Starting with
Jacob Ruppert, we examine the entrepreneurial behaviors that translate into
creating a winning culture. These owners were successful in influencing
team results through the selection of a management staff built on ownership
principles and by shaping player behaviors on and off the field. They managed
