been such a strong part of the philanthropic process, volunteer fundraisers have
been recognized as an integral part of the profession of fundraising. Volunteers
in the United States have been involved in fundraising as early as colonial days,
when Benjamin Franklin set about the task of raising money for charitable
organizations. In other parts of the world, where fundraising is an emerging
