Introduction
Traditionally, though real estate has been the major source of
wealth worldwide, most how-to investment books focus on securities
(stocks, bonds, mutual funds), insurance policies, and the like.
This book was written to fill that gap.
All investment professionals agree that it is best to take a
twofold approach to accumulating wealth: (1) to save as much as
possible and (2) to embark on a long-term investment program.
Real estate is superior as a long-term investment because:
* It is not subject to daily price fluctuations, as stocks are.
* The relative difficulty of buying and selling encourages
investors to hold on for the long run.
* An investment in real estate other than land initially provides
a return of 5 to 10 percent per year, plus amortization
(paydown) of loans, and some tax benefits.
In addition, as real estate appreciates and/or an equity buildup
is achieved by paying down outstanding mortgages, the opportunity
