Even for the millions who have engaged in one or more of the many forms of psychothertapy, the view from the therapist's chair remains a mystery.Dr. Goren has given us a book that removes some of the mystery, and in the process humanizes the therapist by showing us the complexities of running a business that exists in order to heal troubled souls. This book is sure to be useful to therapists, who will profit from her experience and practical advice. But for those, like this writer, who have always sat across from the therapist, it is full of insights into this process whose essence is little more than talk, and into the trials, triumphs and failures of those whose special gift it is to guide us to the kind of talk that actually makes a difference in our lives.
