Kerri Broder, a former journalist from San Francisco, is about to begin her new life as a reporter with the Bent Fork Tribune. While adjusting to life in the Northwestern town, she stumbles upon more than one dead body-bodies that mysteriously disappear-sending her journalistic instincts into overdrive. Rose Lewis, a former resident of Bent Fork, is returning home to escape the agitation of Seattle. She's also hoping to find some answers to the terribly disturbing nightmares that plague her dreams.
