A small, brown mouse born in Mr. Pajolly's Pet Shop has an incredible gift for escaping. He is trained by his Pappy to escape from every cage in the pet shop. One day, the mouse is adopted by a small human with tight blond curls and is given a name, Hero. Desperate to let his family know that he is okay, Hero travels through the ventilation system of the building. However, his escape does not go unnoticed. Three black rats of the RPFF-Revolutionary Pet Freedom Fighters-a secret organization that frees mistreated household pets-enlist Hero's help to save other animals from cruel, senseless humans. From hamsters to horses, fish to frogs, guinea pigs to great danes, each escape gives Hero the confidence to attempt the Big Rescue-a plan to free his family and all the animals in Mr. Pajolly's Pet Shop. He finds that humans are not all the same and the true meaning of 'family". Children ages 7-11 will enjoy this wildly adventurous tale from a small, brown mouse's point of view.

I actually purchased the paperback copy of The Mouse Named Hero and I LOVE THIS STORY! It is a fantastic book. Melanie Shanks is a fantastic writer and I can't wait for more of her work. My kids love this story (as well as my husband and I). AWESOME! You will not be disappointed with buying this book in any form!
