The Mississippi Queen is one of the historic paddle-wheelers operated by the Delta Queens Paddleboat Company. Both Tom and Paul are concerned because it doesn't have some of the exciting things that other commercial cruise ships have, such as a huge swimming pool, theater, and gym. But worst of all, most of the travelers are retirees that want peace and quiet while traveling down the river. Just when they become convinced that they're going to have to entertain themselves all week, Tom and Paul meet Josh Higgins, an old-time riverboat captain, whose stories are more than enough to keep them entertained.
