Exiled from his homeland of Markanturos for trying to instill the idea of racial unity, Arcturus has settled in the Human kingdom of Belorn with his betrothed, Eribeth. But his heart remains unsettled, and his desire to return home is great. In his personal quest to understand his banishment, he becomes the leader of a mismatched group of travelers, each with his or her own underlying ambitions.
The group's journey is unexpectedly extended when an enigmatic wizard sends them on a dangerous mission to recover a magically enchanted stone known as Raven's Heart before it falls into the wrong hands. Now entangled in the midst of a thickening plot, they struggle to accomplish their goal. Will each of them be able to set aside his or her personal motives to ensure the group's survival, or will they fail before the culmination of their quest can be realized?
