Archa is a brutal world that has never known the tender touch of peace. Mortal and immortal armies have waged harsh wars to control the land, often wiping out entire empires. Roving hoards of the undead wander unchecked through the forests and across the plains, the forgotten remnants of magicians who communicate with the dead. Merchants, travelers, and farmers fight for survival in an unforgiving world where the strong rule. But these wars of the past are eclipsed by the bloodshed brandished by the Reapers. The Reapers enter Archa in the black of night, bearing the banner of death. They strike without mercy and leave no survivors to warn of their presence. Soon, Archa is gripped with dread, as the Reapers consume even the stars of the sky.
Hope for Archa lies with Supreme Chancellor Zer Ka'i, the mightiest scion of the ancient House of Ka'i, who conspires to ascend to the throne of Archa. To achieve his goal, he must confront fellow Chancellors, the nightmarish Reapers, and the even the dark past of the House of Ka'i.
Unbeknownst to anyone in Archa, forces too terrible to imagine are at work, weaving schemes that will drown the world's foundations in blood and bring Archa to ruin.
