Christmas Duets for Alto Recorders: A Nine-Note Recorder Book

Christmas duets and trios for two or more alto recorders. Music includes familiar carols and lesser-known or earlier music. Part One features 34 Christmas pieces using only the 9 easiest notes as learned in The Nine-Note Recorder Method: Alto Edition. Part Two contains 32 more songs that use the 12 additional notes presented in Beyond the Nine-Note Recorder Method: Alto Edition. Music may be played on alto and tenor recorders; or on sopranino and either soprano or alto. The duets in Part One may be played on soprano and alto. The trios work well on three altos or a combination of alto and tenor recorders. Other instruments such as mandolin, violin, flute, and psaltery may play these duets. Combine a string instrument and a recorder for a striking duet. Titles include: Away in a Manger; O Come, O Come, Emmanuel; My Dancing Day; Joys of Mary; Ding, Dong, Merrily on High (trio); Jingle Bells; All My Heart This Night Rejoices; Up on the House-Top; Nowell Sing We; Angels We Have Heard on High; Lo, How a Rose E'er Blooming; Make We Joy; Jolly Old St. Nicholas (trio); Patapan (trio); Veinticinco de diciembre; Psallite, unigenito; Coventry Carol (trio); Mariam Matrem Virginem; and many others. Most titles feature fresh new harmonies and arrangements. Others stay very close to the original arrangements, including Silent Night which has traditionally strayed from the original music.
