Her name was Erin Powell, and she was almost perfect.
She was beautiful, intelligent, kind, generous, and
had a megawatt smile. Almost perfect because there was
no such thing as "perfect." Or so said her mother. She was
also considered the best of the best. She knew it, and so
did the man standing in front of her. The others ... They
knew it, too, but would never admit it out loud. She'd told
herself so many times over the years that no man would
ever admit a woman could best him in anything.
Special Agent Erin Powell had graduated first in her
class at the FBI Academy. She'd taken first place in the gun
trials, first place in the endurance trials, first place in the
