The life of a street beggar looks banal and can be easily overlooked since this group of individuals' falls within the dregs of the society. They are insignificant. Their presence is hardly felt. THE NEME BOY& DOULA, is the story of a decrepit blind beggar who engages in an inevitable adventurous quest of survival with his "eye"- a young boy Daniel popularly referred to as the Neme Boy. These two are brought together by fate but the writer springs up to alert that fate could be twisted and its results could be fatal, ironic and probably celestial. In this highly emotional and thought-provoking novel, the writer x-rays the mendicant order which is elevated to the spiritual realm. The journey however is neither a sea cruise nor a picnic for Doula transcends the human and through some rather mysterious and spectacular phenomenon, exposes a political podium on which the novel rests. The civil uprising which brought the two characters, The Neme Boy & Doula, together, was an implication of bad governance in the nation, engendered by the evil ingenuity of the great and revered leader of his nation, Baco Lucana, who is Hephzibah, who is Doula.
