Este es un compendio de cuentos de ficción originales del autor, en diversos estilos, a veces chocantes, que devienen en un largo relato último culminante. Los personajes son en realidad marionetas de los acontecimientos, sin que tengan mucho poder decisorio sobre ellos. El título hace referencia a la denominación latina que se daba en Roma a los esclavos: 'herramientas, objetos, con voz'. Se nota una cierta influencia de Cortázar y de Borges, al que se le cita textualmente, y en general del llamado en otros tiempos 'realismo mágico'. A diferencia de su otro título de cuentos, 'Del mar', no tiene el océano como denominador común sino el avatar y la sorpresa del azar.

El Autor:

Periodista de larga trayectoria, lector eterno y escritor incipiente, sus primeras influencias se deben al 'realismo mágico' de Cortázar, Borges, Scorza, etc. Pero para este libro de relatos prefiere seguir a Conrad, Swift, Joseph Kessel o Jack London. Ha publicado más de una docena de crónicas en la prestigiosa revista 'Historia 16' y algo del regusto por la Historia se nota en sus narraciones, pero abomina de la etiqueta de 'novela histórica' y recuerda que 'la Historia es una rama de la literatura'.
