First there was Spectre. Then came Dark Victory. Now, William Shatner creates the third and most electrifying adventure in the Mirror Universe saga -- the shattering conclusion to the New York Times bestselling series.
In Star Trek: Preserver, Captain Kirk is left with no choice but to surrender to his greatest enemy: himself. Yet there is an even greater force that threatens Captain Kirk, his evil mirror-universe duplicate, and the universes they both call home. Because after a billion years, the Preservers have returned with a host of dark plans, and they are determined to let nothing -- not even the Federation -- stand in their way.
Packed with mystery, action, legend, danger, nightmarish landscapes, and inspiring magic beyond the bounds of our universe, William Shatner's Star Trek: Preserver brings the excitement of Star Trek fiction to dazzling new heights.
When the Enterprise destroys a Romulan Warbird, they release the Artificial Quantum Singularity, fueling its warp drive into the area of space known as the Badlands and nearly destroying their own ship in the process. When the Enterprise-D later tries to map the region, a reappearance of the mysterious Singularity nearly kills Commander Riker and raises questions about Cardassian sabotage!
Chakotay's Maquis ship encounters the Artificial Quantum Singularity released by the "Enterprise." With the ship barely holding together, they are discovered by a Cardassian warship and flee deeper into the Badlands--where they will have a fateful run-in with the U.S.S. "Voyager."
The Starship Rhea has discovered a cluster of carbon planets that seems to be the source of the quantum energies rippling through a section of space. A landing party finds unusual life-forms inhabiting one of the planets. One officer, Lieutenant T'Ryssa Chen -- a half-Vulcan -- makes a tenuous connection with them. But before any progress can be made, the Rhea comes under attack from the Einstein -- a Starfleet vessel now controlled by the Borg. The landing party can only listen in horror as their comrades are assimilated. The Borg descend to the planet, and just as Chen accepts that she will be assimilated, the lieutenant is whisked two thousand light-years away. A quantum slipstream -- instantaneous transportation -- is controlled by these beings in the cluster, and in the heart of the cluster there is now a Borg ship. Cut off from the rest of the Borg collective, the Einstein cannot be allowed to rejoin it. For the sake of humanity, the Borg cannot gain access to quantum slipstream technology. Starfleet Command gives Captain Picard carte blanche: do whatever he must to help the beings in the cluster, and stop the Einstein no matter the cost.
