I have really enjoyed the Septimus Heap series so far and this book was no exception. I settled down and joined some of my favorite characters on their most mysterious adventure yet. When I'd finished Syren my thoughts on the book were: full of action and fun but somehow didn't live up to the high standard of the previous books, in the series. Maybe it was just a little bit too modern. All in all: a good read! This book may be different to the previous books but it still ranks among my favorite Children's eBooks.
