"You did an excellent job," Rafael Salinas purred to the assassin, who stood on the other side of the room, near the door. Either the man didn't like getting too close to other human beings, or he didn't trust Salinas and was giving himself an avenue of escape if the meeting turned sour-in which case he was smart. People who were wary of Salinas tended to live longer than those who trusted him. Drea Rousseau, curled close to Salinas's side, didn't care what the assassin's reasoning was, so long as it kept him at a distance.

He gave her the creeps, the way he never seemed to blink. She had seen him once before, and at that meeting he'd made it obvious he disliked her presence. I have been disappointed as of late with some of Linda's most recent romantic suspense novels. However, this novel is reminiscent of Son of the Morning, one of my favorite books. There is a paranormal element that is a bit of a stretch, but well done overall.

I am a HUGE Linda Howard books. I've read everything of hers I could get my hands on . . . 6 or 7 times at least. Her last books have been hot and hilarious but this one . . . I check on the net to see if it was a reissue. So lackluster. I was really disappointed. The characters weren't fleshed out. The plot was thin. I paid hardcover price for an ebook because Ms. Howard has been a solid producer but I'd have to say to wait for paperback. Or maybe just skip this one and save yourself some disappointment.
