Into the Fire

A Novel
Chapter One

January 2008 Dalton, California

Hannah Whitfield woke up alone in her bed. Which wasn’t that unusual. In fact, this had been her only opportunity to not wake up alone for the first time in years– due to the still somewhat unbelievable fact that she’d actually had sex last night.

Hannah swept her hair out of her eyes as she reached to turn on the lamp that sat on her bedside table, trying–not as successfully–to push away her feelings of imminent dread. Her head was pounding and her ankle was on fire so she took a pull from the nearly empty bottle of Johnny W. she’d left next to her bed. Hair of the dog, was the age-old excuse. She knew better, but right now she needed the drumming pain in both her head and her ankle to back the hell off.

Last night had been far from fairy-tale-inducing material, with no impending happily-ever-after in sight. True, she’d wanted to get with this particular man ever since their very first encounter–since he’d knocked her off that Alaskan pier, a hundred years ago. ... read full excerpt from: Into the Fire ebook

Well I really liked this book. It continues several plot lines started in earlier books. Without spoiling it, there is some significant development in the Decker/Sophia plot. It also moves forward my personal favorites, Tess & Jimmy. It is an absolute must read before Dark of Night.

Finally a good Troubleshooters book! I'd lost hope after Into the Storm. The main character are very good, likable and very, very real, their romance is first-class and incredibly believable, the action is fast-paced and amazing. Tess and Nash have always been one of my favourite couples, the chemistry between them in Breakingpoint was incredible, but I kept hopping to see more of them, it always bothered me that Nash couldn’t trust Tess with his past. We'll see more of them, and I hope Tess will stand up to him and demand to have the role in his life she deserves and I really really hope that next time we see them they finally marry. Izzy is the real deal, a true Knight in shining armour, always putting himself on the line to save the damsel in distress. Just like in Into the Storm, he goes out of his way to save the girl. I really liked Eden and after the impact Izzy had on her life she will be just fine, but… she is not the woman for our hero! Some day he'll came across a real woman, one who truly gets him, maybe not his jokes our his singing, but one who will see right trough Izzy into the real Irving Zanella, who doesn’t need or want anything from him except his heart. I look forward to see Tracy became that woman, after all she showed us, in Into the Strom, she can be a very decent Knight in shining armour herself. I was very glad when Sophia finally decided to give Dave a chance because I’ve always liked Dave, but now…I’m not so sure. Sophia said her feelings for Derek were just an illusion, that she felt safe loving someone who’d never return her feelings, but I just don’t buy it. There is way too much chemistry between them. I think Dave is the one who felt safe loving Sophia, because he knew she would never love him back, I like him so much I can’t help hopping he will meet somebody who doesn’t just want to be loved but somebody who wants to be loved by him.
