Taken

the Spaniard's Virgin

Chapter One

"DROP your head a little to the left. That's right. Good, Amber, good."

Amber Taylor moved to the direction of the photographer, the hot Spanish sun baking her skin despite the sheen. She didn't complain, though. The shoot was her first truly big ad campaign as well as her first large international contract.

At twenty-four, she was either on the cusp of making it big in modeling, or sliding into mediocrity. Mediocrity was not an option. She'd been modeling since her early teens and had sacrificed sleep, chocolate and a social life for her chosen career. She was determined to make it big.

It helped that her mom was on her side. A widow, who had raised Amber on her own, Helen Taylor was an amazing woman. She'd sacrificed herself for Amber's career and loved her only daughter enough to remind her when to exercise and when not to eat ... too much.

Amber had been living on a low-calorie diet so long, she didn't even get hungry anymore. Helen was careful to make sure that the food Amber did eat was übernutritious. She'd even given u ... read full excerpt from: Taken: the Spaniard's Virgin ebook

4 out of 5 stars Another emotional story by Lucy Monroe 10/19/2009
Reviewer: A viewer from Holon, Israel
Taken: The Spaniard's Virgin is part of Harlequin Presents line and also the second book in the Mediterranean Brides series. Amber (from the Bought: The Greek Bride) and Miguel had an affair while Amber was in Spain on a modeling assignment. I enjoyed the book; it was another emotional story from Lucy Monroe. I didn't like Miguel's character too much- he's not my kind of hero although he did redeem himself at the end.

3 out of 5 stars 3.5, Didn't quite live up to the high expectations 03/15/2008
Reviewer: A viewer from montreal, Quebec CA
This book has some good hot scenes as well as some emotional ones, and I am usually a fan of Lucy Monroe's mix of sentiment, machismo, and sexuality. Amber is strong, sexually liberated (if not experienced) and knows her mind, which makes for some intense scenes. However, something is missing in this book. Perhaps the gauche turn of phrase often employed by Amber and constant reiteration of 'this so different for me' dialogue between the two is a turn off. Perhaps it is just that Prague is in the Czech Republic, not in Russia as everyone in the book seems to believe. More likely it is that too much of it feels already told in Sandor and Ellie's story, putting Amber and Miquel in the back seat compared to all the other characters and particularly rushed in the end. Lucy Monroe did much better with her nicely interwoven tales of the Scorsolinis. Buy this book, it is a harlequin, and one of the better ones at that, but don't expect it to be at the same level as the Scorsolini Marriage bargain.
