Raymond E. Feist is one of my favourite authors and Magician is my favourite fantasy book. Shadow of a Dark Queen is the first book in the Serpentwar Saga, it follows Erik, a young blacksmith, who is forced to join an army of desperate men. The army is led by Calis, Tomas's son, and their purpose is to travel to a distant country to learn all they can about the Dark Queen and the Pantathians (serpent people) and the huge army they are amassing before they invade Midkemia. This is a great book, I stayed up all night reading, I couldn't put it down.
