This author has shown for the second time that her heroines will not go down without a fight with Lydia. When I read Lady Jessica and Dain's story (Lord of Scoundrels), I thought that was the only time I would have the pleasure of reading about a "lady" getting her hands dirty in a fight, but Chase surprised me yet again. I hope to read more of her work to enjoy more refreshing surprising heroines.

This was a great historical romance. I have been burnt out on them for awhile but decided to pick up The Last Hellion and I am so GLAD I did. The story is great on all levels: humor, plot, romance, interesting character!!! JUST LOVED IT!!!

Vere needed and finally got a woman like Lydia. When you think of historical romances, you think of the hero saving the day but Chase shows you that a hero is sometimes a woman. Lydia shown so brightly in this story. Kudos to the author for her great characterization of a female hero.

I loved the heroine of this book. Lydia was a powerful character who bowed down to no one or anything. She is a character who you can't wait to see what she does next. Anyone who loves a witty repertoire between the main characters will enjoy anything written by Loretta Chase.

I find Loretta Chase a little hit or miss, but this is one big hit for me. Irresistable force meets immovable object in this story of two strongwilled people who clash time and again whilst slowly falling in love. Our heroine is a strong woman without being a shrew, a trap some writers fall into. And our hero is definitely in need of a good woman Loved this book from start to finish and would highly recommend it.
