She was late. Julia quickened her pace, trying to keep her skirts from dragging along the muddy ground, and at the same time shield her face from the persistent drizzle of cold autumn rain. If she didn't reach the Capital Theatre soon, her hair and clothes would be soaked. "My audition," she muttered despairingly, shouldering past the people on the broken, slippery sidewalk. A once-jaunty yellow feather drooped down from the brim of her small hat, and she pushed it back impatiently.

Today was one of the most important days of her life. If all went well, she might become part of the most successful acting company in England. However, if she failed to impress Logan Scott with her talents, she would have to return to the grimy little Daly Theatre in the Strand. The manager there, Mr. Bickerston, regarded the actresses as if they were prostitutes, turning a profit for himself by arranging for them to meet wealthy men. Another five for Lisa Kleypas, until know I can not find a book from this author that I do not like, she tells the more enthralling stories, that trap you from page one, I will definitely will read more books from her.

Another wonderful book by Lisa Kleypas. I absolutly adore the characters that she has created for this story. I loved the interactions between the hero and heroine. An all around great read. I loved it so much that I bought the next book (Because you're mine) which involved the love story of a minor character in this book. Buy this book, trust me you won't be disapointed.

Not one of my favourites from this author. While it was very interesting following the heroine in the role of actress, I thought the hero was a little colorless - not as fully written a character as usual. He didn't seem to have as many admirable qualities as the heroine and I almost wished she ended up with the charasmatic Logan instead. Interesting to read the sequel (Logan's story) in "Because You're Mine" set 5 years after, but Logan seems to fall prey to the same problem in that one, and loses a lot of his colorful character shading. Much better books by this author include 'Then Came You', 'Suddenly You', 'It Happened One Autumn', etc.
