Romance title: The Pirate Lord
A Splendid Opportunity

A shipload of women—theirs for the taking! Pirate captain Gideon Horn couldn't be more delighted. His men are tired of wandering the high seas and want to settle down with wives on the uncharted island paradise they've discovered. And the women are bound to be grateful to be rescued from the life of drudgery awaiting them in New South Wales . . .

Lord, he's so clever!

A Splendid Passion

Married? To pirates? Sara Willis couldn't be more appalled. First she demands proper courting—at least a month. The darkly handsome pirate lord gives them two weeks. Then Sara insists the men vacate their huts for the women—Gideon demands her kisses in return. As the demands heat up, so do their passions—and soon Sara can't remember just why she's fighting the devilishly seductive captain so hard. . . See more like this in our Romance ebooks section

Pirate Lord, The

Chapter One

How much it is to be regretted, that the British ladies should ever sit down contented to polish, when they are able to reform. . . .

—Hannah More
English Writer And Philanthropist
Essays On Various Subjects . . . For Young Ladies

London, January 1818

Miss Sara Willis had known a great many awkward moments in her twenty-three years. There was the time as a seven-year-old when her mother had caught her filching biscuits from the grand kitchen at Blackmore Hall, or the time shortly afterward when she'd fallen into the fountain at her mother's wedding to her stepfather, the late Earl of Blackmore. Then there was the ball last year when she'd unwittingly introduced the Duchess of Merrington to the duke's mistress.

But none of those compared to this—being physically accosted by her stepbrother as she departed from Newgate Prison in the company of the Ladies' Committee. Jordan Willis—the new Earl of Blackmore, Viscount Thornworth, and Baron Ashley—wasn't the sort of man to mask his disapproval, as so many members of Parha ... read full excerpt from: The Pirate Lord ebook

4 out of 5 stars Good read 10/14/2009

I admit that I had very high hopes for this book but it fell a bit short. The heroine wasn't believable to me but the hero made up for it. He was a very interesting character. The story started off well but it started to get boring rather quickly but I stuck with it and I'm glad I did because it picked up and got a lot more interesting after they arrived at the island. All in all it was a good read and it offered something different than the typical regencies.

Sabrina Jeffries is a great writer! And this book proves it. There is passion, love, drama and excitment! Gideon the pirate and Sara the lady. Classic beaty and the beast... But really is a good story! Read it!!

Terrific! The heroine is spunky and says exactly what is on her mind, even if it could get her into trouble. The hero is smoldering and intrigued by this fierce and courageous woman. The sparks fly. The setting is primarily at sea or on an island, a refreshing change from most Regency Romance novels. There are even some endearing side stories with secondary characters. This is the first in Sabrina Jeffries' Lord Trilogy, and maybe the best, although the third one, The Dangerous Lord, is a close second.

If I could give more than five stars, definitely this is the book, I love to read it, I am laughing until know, remembering parts of it, the romance is superb as well, and when you read it, you will definitely will want a pirate of your own.

This book had so much potential. As I read the first 1/3 of it I was quite excited for the story to play out. The beginning sure sets you up for an adventure but the middle of the book just left me wanting more. They are on this island and it just drags and drags on without much plot/character development IMO. It's like the author needed to fill up pages and time before she could get to the ending. The story does pick up the pace a little at the end but by that point I was feeling frustrated with the book. I had a hard time deciding whether to give it a 3 or 4 star rating. I gave it 4 because it does wrap up okay. I just kept thinking that this idea in the right writers head could have been such a GREAT book.
