Romance title: Bloodfever
I used to think my sister and I were just two nice southern girls who’d get married in a few years and settle down to a quiet life. Then I discovered that Alina and I descend, not from good wholesome southern stock, but from an ancient Celtic bloodline of powerful sidhe-seers, people who can see the Fae. Not only can I see the terrifying otherworldly race, but I can sense the sacred Fae relics that hold the deadliest of their magic.

When my sister was found dead in a trash-filled alley in Dublin, I came over to get answers. Now all I want is revenge. And after everything I’ve learned about myself, I know I have the power to get it….

MacKayla Lane’s ordinary life underwent a complete makeover when she landed on Ireland’s shores and was plunged into a world of deadly sorcery and ancient secrets.

In her fight to stay alive, Mac must find the Sinsar Dubh–a million-year-old book of the blackest magic imaginable, which holds the key to power over both the worlds of the Fae and of Man. Pursued by Fae assassins, surrounded by mysterious figures she knows she cannot trust, Mac finds herself torn between two deadly and irresistible men: V’lane, the insatiable Fae who can turn sensual arousal into an obsession for any woman, and the ever-inscrutable Jericho Barrons, a man as alluring as he is mysterious.

For centuries the shadowy realm of the Fae has coexisted with that of humans. Now the walls between the two are coming down, and Mac is the only thing that stands between them.…

Bloodfever

Chapter One

You're a difficult woman to find, Ms. Lane," said Inspector O'Duffy as I opened the diamond-paned front door of Barrons Books and Baubles.

The stately old-world bookstore was my home away from home, whether I liked it or not, and despite the sumptuous furnishings, priceless rugs, and endless selection of top-rate reading material, I didn't. The comfiest cage is still a cage.

He glanced at me sharply when I stepped around the door, into full view, noting my splinted arm and fingers, the stitches in my lip, and the fading purple and yellow bruises that began around my right eye and extended to the base of my jaw. Though he raised a brow, he made no comment.

The weather outside was awful, and so long as the door was open, I was too close to it. It had been raining for days, a relentless, depressing torrent that needled me with sharp wind-driven droplets even where I stood, tucked beneath the shelter of the column-flanked archway of the bookstore's grand entry. At eleven o'clock on Sunday morning, it was so overcast and dark that the streetlamps were still on. Despite their sullen yellow glares, I could barely ... read full excerpt from: Bloodfever ebook

5 out of 5 stars Bloodfever review.. 09/23/2009

Great story, I love reading series books! This is the second book in the Fever series and an awesome extention of Karen Marie Monings Highlander series, even though I would LOVE to spend more time in those sexy Druids world, the Fever stories bring us into the present with new sexy central characters, MacKayla Lane, Jericho Barons and V'Lane. The walls between the two worlds are coming down and Mac is smack dab in the middle of a Fae vs. Human war...the action is thrilling and the romance is hot! I couldn't put any of the Highlander/Fever books down and I can't wait for the rest of this series!

I loved this book! It's a perfect read for those nights alone when you just want to escape from the world. The book sucks you into this fantastical reality and includes all the key elements for a page turner: action, mystery, sexual tension, impending apocalypse, etc. I 100% recommend this book!

A great second installment of the Fever series. Mac continues to grow as a person and becomes closer to the elusive Barrons. What is really going on?? I love the series and recommend it to everyone. If you really want to enjoy this series, be sure to read Moning's Highlander books first. You get alot of background info and clues. Moning gets a kick out of keeping us guessing and begging for more.

Reviewer: JESS from ROMA, QL AU
Bloodfever continues on from Darkfever with MacKayla Lane's investigation of her sister's savage murder and hunt for the Sinsar Dubh, a book said to hold the deadliest of all magic. The plot thickens as new characters are introduced and more complications are added. Why is Death stalking her? Can she trust Dani and the other Sidhe-Seers? What does V'lane, a Prince of the Seelie Court, really want from her? Paramount of all questions is who is Jericho Barrons and why does the Lord Master seem to fear him? So many questions, so few pages. A fantastic second book in Karen Marie Moning's five-part fever series; that will have you begging for the next installment.
