I've read the first in the series- the texan's wager, and Carter is definitely my all time favorite! I'd loved Dalton and Two-Bits from it, and was waiting for their story, which isn't as straightforward as I thought it would be ;). The characters from the other three are mentioned, but don't make an appearance in this one. OFF THE COVER: "Years ago, Texas Ranger Jacob Dalton bailed an orphaned girl named Nell out of trouble more times than he could count. But now the kid he once called "Two Bits" has grown into a beautiful young woman--and is in more trouble than ever before." NELL HAS met an accident (shoot out in a previous book) and is wheel-chair bound. She's inherited lands and money from Fat Alice and She puts an ad out for a husband. She's is down to Number 12 when Jacob comes charging in. There's also an oily lawyer and Zeb Whitaker's never-to-be-found stash of gold that's involved. ALL IN ALL, a sweethearted, lovely read. :)
