Danse Macabre
These days, Anita Blake is less interested in vampire politics than in an ancient, ordinary dread she shares with women down the ages: she may be pregnant. And, if she is, whether the father is a vampire, werewolf, or something else entirely, it's clear that being a Federal Marshal known for raising the dead and being a vampire executioner is no way to bring up a baby. Although I really loved this book, truth be told, the storyline is not that great. There is a vampire ballet in town and Jean Claude had invited several master vampires to attend. Anita has a lot to deal with in this book. Trouble starts when the vampires from the ballet start to influence the viewers. This starts a chain reaction, where Anita gets severely hurt and to heal herself, she has to have sex. The sex part returns very often in this book. She has to feed the ardeur, find an extra Pomme de Sang and gets intimate with the master vampire Auggie. In spite of all the sex, I do think this book was fun to read and I do recommend it to Anita Blake fans..

Laurell Hamilton continues her Anita Blake series in her typical high octane style. She grabs you from page 1 and keeps you engaged until the end at which point she leaves you with a serious craving for the next book. This series is not for the faint of heart or the conservatives among us so if you are uncomfortable with extreme fantasy you should stay far away from the Anita Blake series. Personally as a fan of this series, the past couple books have been a little disappointing for me but Danse Macabre reminded me why I am hooked on Hamilton's writing and this series in particular. A must read for Anita Blake fans!
