The Cat
New in the national bestselling Sons of Destiny series, hailed by Jayne Ann Krentz as "wildly entertaining."Amara is wary of mages--they chased her out of her homeland. Yet there is something about the mage Trevan of Nightfall that Amara can't resist. But can he be trusted with her most fiercely guarded secret? Courting such a pretty yet prickly outlander won't be easy, but Trevan is determined to try. She may be fierce, proud, and from a different culture, but after all, he is the Cat, and none but the most fascinating and challenging of women could satisfy him... Of the eight books in this series, The Cat is by far the weakest. Trevan, is not given the same character detail that the other brothers are given and his bride is a real shrew. That said, this book contains some thoroughly satisfying smut!

Trevan meets a true shapeshifter born to be a queen - can he convince her to stay and be his? Great read.

In the fifth book of the series, we have the story of Trevan, the eldest twin of the third set of twins. This book is very peculiar since the timeline is the same for The Cat and for The Storm, as the author indicates in the beginning of the book. So, in this book, we have some glimpses of what is happening with Rydan, but we don't really understand the full meaning of some conversations until we read The Storm. In The Cat, we are introduced to two females that arrive Nightfall Island, Amara and Arora. They are on the run, because of what Arora is, but what she is they don't know. Amara has run with her sister to protect her, although she was one the best shifters of their people. She knows her sister is hunted by mages and she distrusts them all... When she realizes she's in an island full of mages, she must find out if this island is safe for her and her sister. When Trevan finds Amara, he knows that she may his destined bride. He finds she's very protective of something of great power and must convince her that he and all the members of his family don't want that power. In this book we also see, that Amara is very strong female character and often argues with Queen Kelly. It's interesting to see these two women "go at it". This book is very, very good, not only because of it's story, but also for allowing to see something of the next book.

I loved this book. I know the author proses on and describes everything in detail, but I like to read and feel a part of the story.
