Chapter One

BERLIN, GERMANY

The vampire had no idea that death awaited him in the darkness.

His senses were overloaded with need, his hands and arms full of a half-dressed redhead who pawed at him with barely restrained lust. Too fevered to notice they weren't alone in his Darkhaven bedchamber, he willed open the carved double doors and guided his eager, panting prey inside. The woman teetered on a pair of tall heels, laughing as she twisted away from him and wagged a finger in front of her face.

"Hans, you fed me too mush champagne," she slurred, stumbling into the dark room. "My head's all woozy."

"It will pass." The German vampire's words were _sluggish, too, though not from the alcohol that had inebriated his unsuspecting American companion. His fangs were no doubt filling his mouth, saliva flooding over his tongue in anticipation of feeding.

	First Adrian novel read and I am "hooked"! 10/26/2009

This was my first Lara Adrian novel and I was hooked on her entire Breed Series. It was romantic, suspensful and rich in background details. Her characters are complex and interesting and the book is loaded with sexy scenes. Needless to say I raced and purchased all the Breed books and will pre-order the next installment.

Hey Lara Adrian fans! Guess who is in this book! Reichen! The sexy guy in Germany that was "friends" with the sexy brothel owner in Veil of Midnight. A very good book! And someone escapes!!!

Each one of Lara Adrian's books gets better & better the more she writes. Andreas Reichen's character just about broke my heart with the torment he felt about the instability of his "power" & his fight for control over it when he just wanted to give up made the book captivating. And Claire was the perfect heroine for him...I just hate that it took them so many years to find each other again... This was a definite MUST HAVE read...I am impatient to get the next installment of the series!

WOW. I don't know what to say. I have anxiously awaited the release of this book. I even preordered it. Lara Adrian's Midnight Breed series has been one of my favorites. This book left a lot to be desired. The hero and heroine had no build up to there sex and there was not sexual tension. I became bored with the plot of the book as well. Better luck next time.
