	More Charles and Anna 09/25/2009

I am pleased that Patricia Briggs has given us more of Charles and Anna. I have enjoyed their story since there were introduced in the On the Prowl Anthology. It was nice to see Anna continuing to grow in confidence, I particularly enjoyed the way Patricia has her arranging those around her to suit herself, not something that she would have considered in Alpha and Omega. My only issue is a personal one. I kept my own identity when I married and do not see why Anna felt the need to abandon hers.

I was surprised that this was even better than Alpha and Omega. Charles and Anna are sent by Bran to Seattle to meet with an international delegation of werewolves about Bran's decision to bring the werewolves public. While there, they meet one of the Grey Lords (this will be familiar for those who have read the Mercy Thompson series) a wolf who believes he is THE Arthur of Britain, Asil's son, vampire mercenaries, another Omega wolf and a human who might have been Omega if she'd been turned. For me, one of the best parts is dealing with Charles's and Anna's relationship; things aren't just smooth sailing now that they're really mated. Anna still has issues that need to be worked out and she is a far more 3-dimensional character than in the first book. She is also able to teach the other Omega (wolf) a bit about what it means to be an Omega and is able to internalize that within herself. We do find out what Anna's strong instrument was while she was a music major; since it isn't a plot thing I will go ahead and say that is the cello.
