Balloon Days
Because of death or in spite of death - I don't
know which - Elijah and I learned about
expansion. These were our balloon days, when
both of us had grief for lost relations.
Temporarily, Elijah had lost me, and I had lost
my three dead ones. On balloon days, you learn
to expand. You fill up the empty space and, in
spite of sadness, discover lofty new dimensions
of the self. But not without pain. As if caught
