SIX MONTHS LATER
Detective Agnes Jade was so tense she felt brittle. If these people don't get out of here, I'm
going to shatter into a million pieces, she thought. She did her best to tune out the
conversation. She thought she heard someone say something about awarding her a medal at
some ceremony. That would be the day.
Aggie looked up to see the officer from Internal Affairs she'd been dealing with staring at her.
