The Twilight Before Christmas
" Seven sisters...and a legacy of magical secrets. Bestselling novelist Kate Drake is one of seven sisters gifted with amazing powers of witchcraft. Returning home in time for her northern California town's annual Christmas pageant, Kate catches the spirit of the season and decides to open a bookstore in a charming but run-down historic mill. Decorated former U.S. Army Ranger Matt Granite, now a local contractor, doesn't mind working in the undeniably eerie house -- not if it means getting closer to Kate. There's something about the quiet, sensual woman that powerfully attracts him. When an earthquake cracks the mill's foundation and reveals a burial crypt, Kate senses that a centuries-old evil has been unleashedSand that it's coming after her. Though Matt vows to guard her from dusk till dawn, Kate knows she will have to summon all of her and her sisters' powers to battle the darkness threatening to destroy both Christmas and the gift of soul-searing passion her hometown hero wants her to keep forever.... Twilight Before Christmas

Excerpt

Chapter One

'Twas the twilight before Christmas and all through the lands
Not a thing has occurred that was not of my hand

"Don't say it. Don't say it. Don't say it," Danny Granite muttered the mantra under his breath as he sat in the truck watching his older brother carefully selecting hydro-organic tomatoes from Old Man Mars's fruit stand. Danny glanced at the keys, assuring himself the truck was running and all that his brother had to do was leap in and gun it. He leaned out the window, gave a halfhearted wave to the elderly man, and scowled at his brother. "Get a move on, Matt. I'm starving here."

Matt grimaced at him, then smiled with smooth charm at the old man. "Merry Christmas, Mr. Mars," he said cheerfully as he handed over several bills and lifted the bag of tomatoes. "Less than two weeks before Christmas. I'm looking forward to the pageant this year."

Danny groaned. A black scowl settled over Old Man Mars's face. His craggy brows drew together in a straight, thick line. He grunted in disgust and spat on the ground.

The smile on Matt's face widened into a boyish grin as he hurried ... read full excerpt from: The Twilight Before Christmas ebook

I have recently discovered this series and I am hooked. These sister are so cool with their superpowers but they only want to help people. I have wish I could have read them in order but they are still great even jumping around the series.

Matthew Granite is more than pleased to discover Kate Drake has returned to home; after all he's been in love with her since she was 15. When they both spread their wings and left their home of Safe Haven to travel the world; Matthew as a US Army Ranger and Kate to research her novels, Matt gained a reputation as a one date wonder; as what woman could compare to his perfect Kate? Yet this worldly man feels clumsy in her presence, compounded by the humour his family find in his situation; after all he's now crashed his car several times when distracted by Kate, and the day he spots her back in Safe Haven is no exception. Kate in turn is attracted to Matt; however it's difficult to deny she has little in common with this man. Matt is definitely a doer and a risk taker, whereas she likes nothing more than curling up with a good book and reading about adventure rather than participating in it. Yet Kate is far more than she appears, as like the rest of her sisters she has a special power. Able to bring comfort and peace to people with the power of her voice, Kate is destined to face a malevolent entity which has been released following an earthquake in Safe Haven. As this evil grows in strength and malice, it targets Kate and some of her other sisters; whilst Matt with his growing understanding of how special Kate really is will stop at nothing to protect the woman he loves. Again CF has produced another fantastic paranormal romance. The tension escalates as the Drake sisters face increasing danger whilst the sexual tension between Kate and Matt rises steadily and continues even after their first passionate encounter (and there are quite a few in this book). "The Twilight Before Christmas" is a romance with plenty going on plot wise along side Kate and Matt's growing relationship, with genuinely creepy moments as the Drake sisters fight to save Safe Haven's inhabitants from an entity determined to bring harm to the populace.

The entire Drake family is a little quirky and Kate Drake's story is not any different. I love the series, reading the story about each sister's fall into love is great. I especially like Kate's story because it introduces so many of the other characters that play key roles in the series. Matt is an all-around good guy and he and Kate were made for each other. The story is great, interesting, and easy to follow. The sex is imaginative and the romance is heartbreaking.
