Chapter One

It was a blistering hot day in south Texas, even for early September. Christabel Gaines was wearing a low-cut white top with faded blue jeans, a book bag slung casually over one shoulder. The top outlined her small, firm breasts and the jeans clung lovingly to every softly rounded line of her young body. The faint breeze caught her long blond hair in her pretty bow-shaped mouth, against her wide forehead and high cheekbones. She moved the strands away, her big, warm brown eyes amused at something one of the students with her was saying about a classmate. It was a long, dull Monday morning.

Debbie, a girl in her computer class, was suddenly staring past Christabel toward the parking lot. She whistled softly. "Well! I know what I want for Christmas," she said in a loud whisper.

Teresa, another classmate, was also staring. "Hubba, hubba," she said with a wicked grin, wiggling her eyebrows. "Anybody know who he is?"

After reading this novel, I wanted my own private Texas Ranger. Although at times you want to knock Judd on the head, at last he is a knock out, so you will forgive him everything just as Christabel did. You will love it.

I absolutely love this book. I've passed over it a few times, favoring Diana Palmer's other stories, but this one is my third favorite. Unlike many of her other shorter stories, Lawless is longer and the characters are definitely more well rounded. Lawless is about a couple who marry each other years ago so that they can remain co-owners to a failing ranch that's short on income. The male lead agrees to allow Hollywood to film a romance movie at the ranch. The main actress in the movie starts to charm the male lead and well, his paper-wife (who secretly harbors feelings for her husband) gets extremely jealous. Oh, it's just tooooo good so I TOTALLY RECOMMEND this book to anyone. The last few pages in the end had me wishing I lived in Texas! :)
