Romance title: Jacob: The Nightwalkers

Since time began, there have been Nightwalkers—the races of the night who live in the shadows of the moonlight. Love with humans is absolutely forbidden, and one man makes certain to uphold this ancient law: Jacob, the Enforcer...

FOR 700 YEARS, HE HAS RESISTED TEMPTATION.
BUT NOT TONIGHT...

Jacob knows the excuses his people give when the madness overtakes them and they fall prey to their lust for humans. He's heard every one and still brought the trespassers to justice. Immune to forbidden desires, uncontrollable hungers, or the curse of the moon, his control is total...until the moment he sees Isabella on a shadowy New York City street. Saving her life wasn't in his plans. Nor were the overwhelming feelings she arouses in him. But the moment he holds her in his arms and feels the soft explosion of her body against his, everything changes. Their attraction is undeniable, volatile, and completely against the law. Suddenly everything Jacob has ever believed is inflamed by the heat of desire...

Bring on the night.

"Jacqui Frank's NIGHTWALKER series depicts an engrossing alternate world, drawn in prose that is lush and lyrical."

—Linda Howard

THE NIGHTWALKERS Jacob

Chapter One

How ridiculously simple it would be to cause them harm.

From far above, he watched with unwavering dark eyes as they walked down the shadowy street. The human male was so absorbed in his flirtation with his female, he would have no chance of protecting her from harm should they be surprised by a threat. What if he were to drop onto them from his current height?

Although in that instance, "surprised" wouldn't be an adequate descriptive. The debate of defense would be futile as well. A human versus one of his ilk?

Jacob the Enforcer exhaled a sardonic laugh.

The redheaded woman had chosen poorly, in his opinion. No respectable male would have encouraged his partner to venture out on such a forbidding night. Mystical portents aside, the street they walked w ... read full excerpt from Jacob: The Nightwalkers ebook

This book was not the first Nightwalker novel that I read but I found that I liked Jacob to be my favorite one. It could be that it answered some questions from the other books and had a human that got powers suddenly but I liked this one the best. I found it to be sensual and something that I could read over and over again. I was surprised that the reason for the main enemy of following books was so insignificant in this story though. Perhaps it is more prominent in the second book.

I like the romance and supernatural elements to this book, but there was a lot of mushy dialog. But thats what you get for reading a romance novel!

Jacquelyn Frank painted a brand new world with Jacob, the first book of the Nightwalkers series. Jacob, the Demon Enforcer, has spent seven hundred years hunting rogue demons. Lonely, feared, and unloved until the fateful night, when beautiful Bella falls out of her apartment window and into his arm. Both Jacob and Isabella's characters are well developed and enjoyable. Bella is spunky, sweet and charming. She holds her own even as her life is turned topsy-turvy and in the midst of a race who regards human beneath them. As heroine goes, I really enjoyed Bella as she bravely embraces the unknown instead wallow in denial, works hard to be of use instead of a damsel in distress. Jacob is head over hill with his desire for his Bella even though his law forbids such union. I totally loved this alpha male, his possessiveness, protectiveness, passion and devotion towards his mate. This is a wonderfully sensual paranormal romance. Definitely check it out.

I really liked this book.I really liked the fact that the heroine was feisty, and protected what she believed in, and those she believed in. The hero was protective and dominating, but not so much that you felt like strangling him. This book has a good plot as well as character depth. If you like books from authors like Christine Feehan and Gena Showalter, you should enjoy this.

A compelling romance novel with an interesting take on the world of demons. Whilst the steamy relationship is central to this story the sub-plot and peripheral characters are still very entertaining.
