Chapter One

Robert Hamilton, Earl of Westbrooke, was a light sleeper. His eyes opened the moment his mattress shifted. He turned to see what had caused the disturbance.

Two very large, very naked breasts dangled in front of his nose. Damn! He looked up to see to whom they belonged. Lady Felicity Brookton. She gave him an arch look as she drew in her breath to scream.

Bloody hell.

He bolted from the bed and leapt for the window. There was no time for such niceties as breeches or shoes. Once Lady Felicity started her caterwauling, the entire house party would be banging on his door. He'd be securely caught in parson's mousetrap, condemned to face Lady Felicity at the breakfast table every morning for the rest of his life.

Could there be a more succinct description of hell?

He swung his leg over the sill and dropped down onto the roof of the portico as she emitted her first screech. The sharp surface cut into his bare feet, but the pain was nothing to the panic raging in his chest.

The tale is as old as time, but has a nice twist to it. I realy enjoyed this book and could hardly put it down! The book is well writen and has some very funny moments (steamy ones too). It also had me at the edge of my seat quite a few times... and althought you might think you've read it all before, you'd no doubt change you mind after a few pages. The only bad thing I can say about this book is that, at times, I felt there were too many dominating characters... and I found myself scan reading some parts, in order to get back to the main characters - Robbie and Lizzie.

I like this novel mainly because it is a true love story. Man and Women know eachother since childhood and love one another secretly, though both do not relize this in eachother. I loved the hero, Robbie, and the struggle he goes through. I am a little diapointed in Lizzie and the fact that she does not seem a fully rounded character. She seems to do things that do not reflect well on her. All in all though a great read, you will keep turning the pages well into the night.
