Before Faylene could protest, they were out of the bedroom window and he began climbing up the building with her slung over his shoulder.

"At least tell me your name." Faylene tried to right her spinning world as the ground disappeared rapidly beneath her.

The musky smell of him hit her hard. A shot of lust went through her like a lightning bolt. It occurred to her that she was only in a pair of oversized men's boxer shorts and a thin tank top with not a stitch of underwear on. She was instantly conscious of the thin cotton of her shorts being the only thing separating her from his shoulder.

"Just call me Thad. We'll have formal introductions later," he grunted as he climbed onto the roof of her apartment building and set her on her feet.

"There they are! On the roof!" A shout came from the ground below, and bullets whizzed by Faylene's head.

"Run!" Thad grabbed her arm and pulled her across the rooftop, hauling her along when she stumbled.

Faylene tried to keep up with Thad as he dodged objects she could barely see in the dark. They were rapidly running out of room when another blaze of fire flared up right behind them.

"Get ready to jump!" he shouted as they came to the edge of her building.

"Jump? Are you out of your mind? It's at least three meters between buildings, I can't jump that far!"
