Chapter One
Jesus created ALL things.
"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth" (Genesis 1:1).
For thousands of years people believed that God the Father, God Jehovah, God
the self-existing one, was the Creator. But John tells us Jesus was the
Creator: "Through him [Jesus] all things were made; without him nothing was
made that has been made" (John 1:3).
God the Father was the architect, planner, and producer of creation. But Jesus
was the agent and director, the executor of the process. This bears out in a
couple of passages from other places in the New Testament. First, Colossians
1:15-17 tells us, "He [Jesus] is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn
over all creation. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on
earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or
authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all
things, and in him all things hold together."
