Chapter One

Soft rock blared from a pair of onstage speakers. Christina Marshall rubbed at her temple, trying to ease the growing ache. She would win an Oscar for tonight's outstanding performance. No one had noticed her underlying unease. At least, she didn't think anyone had.

She glanced around the rented reception room again. As parties went for landing a monstrous account, this one beat all, Chris guessed, since she wasn't into this kind of thing. Her coworkers danced and talked and seemed to truly be having a good time. All while drowning themselves in whatever they could purchase from the cash bar. One big Friday after-work happy hour.

Christina had to admit that everyone did appear happy. Except for her. No! You do look happy, Marshall. Suck it up. One hour. You only have to make it one hour before slipping out. That was the time she'd set for herself and she was going to stick to it even if it killed her. Chris slapped a goofy smile on her face and hoped it didn't make her look like she needed a straitjacket.

I enjoyed this book wasn't sorry I bought it, but felt the whole story was to rushed, I don't feel the issues were addressed like they should have been - the issues being alcohol and abuse - I feel that if an author is going to use these in a book that she is obligated to follow them through to the end where ever that may lead these are serious issues in todays world and I don't think should be handled lightly. I know I didn't buy this book for that, but if there going to be introduced in a book they need to handled with care and caution.

I enjoyed reading this book.Graphic sex scenes, so i wouldnt recommend it for those who are not into that type of stuff.Main problem with it was that it was rushed...which was to be expected because its a short story.the climax and resolution was also a bit mundane i guess...not cliffhangers really i think this book would be excellant as a longer novel, which would giv more time to delve into the background of the characters.

This is my first time reading a book by Annmarie Mckenna and it won't be my last. This book was very well written and it kept my attention from beginning to end. It was wonderful seeing how the two men cherished Christina.
