Chapter One

He shouldn't touch her.

That thought didn't stick. Sloan wasn't sure it even left a trail as it slipped right out of his brain to make room for the hunger that was doubling in size as he watch Brianna work the last of her coat buttons. A smile touched his lips at the innocent picture she made in the coatroom-she was still wearing her gloves and her fingers were clumsy on the buttons due to the fabric coating her fingers. A silvery giggle escaped her lips as she stopped and tugged her gloves off before stuffing them into a coat pocket. Music floated in on the wind as the light flickered over her smile. She was humming with the fiddle as she shrugged out of her jacket and turned around to place it on a hook.

Brianna had to rise up onto her toes to reach a free hook. The walls already strained under the number of coats and shawls hanging there. It didn't bother her. This is a book for those of us (women) who just sometime want a man to tell us everything will be OK, “rest you weary head on my shoulder and I will take care of everything form the mechanic to the electrician”. The fact that he always appreciates the strong woman she is while he slays the dragons for her makes is a great read.

Sloan and Brianna fall for each other in typically ol' west style, where women were scarce and where men who didn't spend all their time in the saloon with the working girls were even harder to find. Brianna is very independent and determined to make it on her own, that is until Sloan comes along. He is stubborn and twice as determined to save her from himself. But ultimately when it comes down to her being with him or the town bully, Sloan is not willing to share.
