I admit, I did not realize this was a novella when I purchased it. The premise is sweet, and the plot moving. The devoted heroine has loved the hero for years, even during his time at war. When he returns badly injured, her love does not fail. But to society, and to himself, he is no longer an entirely acceptable suitor. Her struggle to love in spite of all objections is admirable and inspiring.
