A Binary Convergence
Of all the wonders that lie in the infinite reaches of space what small few might we witness? In the infinite stretch of time that lies before us, everything can and will happen, and the fun of discovery has already begun. A Binary Convergence is dual contributor science fiction at its best, bringing the complementary talents of Brian L. Porter and Graeme S. Houston together and giving them free reign to take us beyond our wildest dreams. Within are three stories from each author with a co-authored finale. A Long Way From Home by Brian L. Porter: A giant starship hurtles through space on a voyage of exploration, seeking answers to a people's questions about their ancestral history. As they near their destination they are unprepared for the shock that awaits them. Beware a poet's namesake bearing gifts by Graeme S. Houston: The mysterious Yeatts (outcast, explorer, scientist) has returned and given humanity a space ship that can protect us from the alien threat lurking just beyond sol. Not everyone trusts Yeatts, and many believe that the ship is a trojan horse. Those who trust Yeatts, face a battle to reach the ship and the promise of salvation it holds. The Caretaker by Brian L. Porter: In a vast graveyard of discarded spacecraft The Caretaker sits, year after year, patiently guarding his worthless charges. When an alien vessel approaches in search of a long-sought fugitive, The Caretaker's peaceful existence is threatened and he is forced to reveal a long-hidden secret. The Hand of God by Graeme S. Houston: The hand of god, a tethered launch system will take Astra to the moon, but once there she will find that war is coming, and she is caught in the centre of it. Terror at Tunguska by Brian L. Porter: The year was 1908. A massive explosion rocked the Tunguska Valley in Russia. The Tsar commissions an expedition to investigate the devastation. Experts in their fields, each member of the team is hand-picked for the job. Unfortunately for them no-one expected them to encounter the 'Terror at Tunguska'. Graylock's game by Graeme S. Houston: Graylock is a spacer. She owns her own ship and mines ore from the oort cloud at the very edge of sol. The latest technology; artificial atoms, destroys her business as the price of raw materials plummets. Graylock's life takes a devastating downward spiral. The End of the Beginning by Brian L. Porter and Graeme S. Houston: Ramaxia Tedego, the nefarious thief, just happened to find himself stuck between a row of crates and and the bulkhead of the ship, when quite suddenly, and contrary to the ship's schedule, the loading bay was sealed and he could feel the sway of take off. He cursed, quietly to himself, and waited for the crew to leave the bay before climbing out of his hiding place to assess his predicament. As predicaments go - Tedego would surely not be disappointed!
