Reader Review: This is the only book that is told exclusively in the first person. It is the thrilling and intimate tale of Corran Horn, his decision to explore his family's Jedi past and his ascendancy to Jedi Knight. (Incidentally, Corran is the protagonist in the first three fantastic X-Wing novels. All taking place before I, Jedi) I, Jedi is really split into two parts. Corran becoming a Jedi and Corran rescuing his wife, Mirax, from a group of pirates. The first half covers a large part of the events in the Jedi Academy Trilogy which is nice because that's a horribly written trilogy about a fascinating subject. Luke's first attempts to form a new Jedi order. From Luke's successes to his failures, Corran, an introspective and capable former Cor Sec officer/X-wing pilot finds his own way to let go of his ego in the forests of Yavin. The second half is where Corran, Jedi knight, has to find Mirax in said pirate compound while following his own code of ethics in Bantam Books Sith free era. I personally found the first half worth the purchase alone but the second half kicks into a fun adventure about one man bringing down a syndicate with both his wits and his power. This thick Star Wars tome is one of the best you'll ever find. Great story, great writing. Great Star Wars!

New York Times bestselling author Michael A. Stackpole presents a stirring new tale set in the Star Wars® universe: the dramatic story of a heroic X-wing pilot on the razor's edge between the Force--and the dark side.

Corran Horn has distinguished himself as one of the best and brightest of Rogue Squadron's elite fighting force. Then his wife, Mirax, vanishes on a covert mission for the New Republic, and Corran vows to find her. To do so, he knows he must develop the latent Force powers inherited from his grandfather, a legendary Jedi hero. He joins Luke Skywalker's famed Jedi academy to begin training, only to quit in frustration at Skywalker's methods. Now Corran is on his own. Using his Corellian undercover experience, he must infiltrate, sabotage, and destroy a ruthless organization in order to find his wife. But to succeed, Corran will have to come to terms with his Jedi heritage--and make a terrible choice: surrender to the dark side...or die.

Features a bonus section following the novel that includes a primer on the Star Wars expanded universe, and over half a dozen excerpts from some of the most popular Star Wars books of the last thirty years!
