In this book the defendant looks guilty from the start, however his father who put away many guilty criminals before is having trouble believing the truth in the case of his son accused of murder. Eventually their family history gives a whole new dimension to genetic inheritance.

The book is about an Assistant District Attorney who has spent the last 20 years putting violent criminals in prison finding himself put in the position of defending the most important person in his life, his son Jacob. One of Jacob's classmates has been murdered and some of the key evidence points to Jacob who has a few issues.
The cool thing about this book is that no matter what anyone tries to say or what evidence they try to point out, Andy absolutely believes in his son. He never allows himself to believe that Jacob is anything but innocent. That's one cool dad.
The book also shows how your position in society can change so much once the finger of suspicion is pointed in your direction. These people went from leaders of their community to the people who raised the murderer. Their past gets put under a microscope and they don't always like what they see.
I don't like spoilers, so I will just say that the ending is a total surprise and that you won't be disappointed.
