Reader Review: This author clearly wants the reader to feel the pain and suffering of the characters. A serious problem for many writters is that they can't give up on their creations. George R.R. Martin takes the phrase "laissez faire" very seriously. No one can say that these characters can't do what they want. In the mythical land of Westeros, everything is possible. With these books you will get attached to every character as they indirectly tell you their most inner secrets and that makes it no easier to let them go, when the battle goes bad. Clearly George R.R. Martin gives realism in a medieval way to the life of every person living in these unkown lands.
