Reader Review: I enjoyed this book. It had a little of everything. Jane is a strong character and her bantering and teasing with Alex was humorous. Her disguise as a 'overly plump' chit to scare off Phillip was so funny I found myself laughing out loud and getting the attention of my family. It does look odd when your caught laughing whilst reading, they think you've finally lost it especially when it is over a historical romance. There aren't many books out there that make you laugh out loud let alone smile. I would've preferred Alex to be a rake because despite his gentlemanly ways he was quite the charmer and very seductive when he wanted to be. If he were a rake this book would've been great. There was no sexual tension, no sex scenes and if I am not mistaken 2-3 kissing scenes which were not detailed. I thought the lacking of these were disappointing because they do tend to add to the air of the book. Despite it however I did enjoy the read because generally I don't enjoy books without these scenes. If they were there I am sure I would've given it 4.5 stars. This book was sweet and pleasant to read.
Jane Verey was not going to marry Lord Philip Delahaye! He was rude, insulting and a drunkard! And at the thought of spending a lifetime with him, Jane would even lower herself to deception in order to dissuade her boorish suitor. But Philip's handsome brother would not be so easily fooled....
Jane Verey most certainly was going to marry his brother. Alex, the Duke of Delahaye, had carefully arranged the match, and Miss Verey's tricks would not stop the marriage. But every time Alex set eyes on the enchanting hoyden, he found himself wanting a match of his own....

This book is just too cute. I love how witty and complicated the main protagonists are, and they are a perfect foil for each other. I'm also glad things work out for the duke's brother. Its an very fun read!

It was an enjoyable, quick read. Jane was an intelligent young lady who loves the country and she refused to be married off. Alex was determined to marry her off to his brother but ended up falling in love with her himself. Their interplay was fun to read as they were both determined to outwit the other. I recommend this book.
Good read
