Reader Review: I like this couple! Lord Braybrook is honorable, intelligent, caring, and very protective. He met Miss Christiana Daventry while investigating his sister's suitor. Miss Daventry is the man's brother and she was hired to be a companion to his step-mother, a governess to his siblings, and most of all - to dissuade her brother and his sister from marrying. Christiana is intelligent, and quite feisty! She doesn't like that her brother is deceiving them and so she agrees. Those two have a very intense attraction to each other and it was fun to see them try to resist it. Christy really hanged the Viscount's mindset for the better and he shows her that not everyone is like her extremely bigoted father. I recommend it!
Miss Christiana Daventry will do whatever it takes to keep from being thrown out on the streets--even accept the insufferably attractive Lord Braybrook's proposition!
Julian Trentham, Viscount Braybrook, urgently needs to hire a governess and companion, and Christy is conveniently available. Headstrong, with charmingly mismatched eyes and soft tawny hair, Christy is unlike any woman he has ever encountered. But there is something so deliciously endearing about her that Julian quickly forgets how scandalous it would be to give in to the mounting attraction for his penniless governess....

Lord Braybrook's Penniless Bride
'But it isn't fair, Mama!' said the Honourable Alicia furiously. 'Julian only met Harry for five minutes yesterday and'
'Half an hour,' said Julian, sitting down on a sofa. 'Long enough to ascertain that, apart from his post as Sir John's secretary, he has no prospects.' He eyed the tabby cat seated on Serena's lap out of the corner of his eye. The blasted thing was convinced he adored cats. It couldn't have been more mistaken.
'Five minutes!' repeated Lissy, 'and poor Harry is declared unsuitable. Whatever that means!'
'Amongst other things, it means you'd run the fellow aground inside of a month,' said Julian, unmoved. 'Have sense, Lissy.'
The cat stretched, brilliant green eyes fixed on Julian.
Lissy glared. 'I would not!'
Serena chimed in. 'Lissy dear, I feel quite sure that charming and pleasant as Mr Daventry may' She made a grab for the cat, but it was already flowing off her lap. 'Oh, dear. Now, where was I? Yes, Mr Daventry, I am sure he is not at all well off, so'
'What does money matter? And anyway, he has an income!' protested Lissy.
'Two hundred a year?' Julian suppressed a snort. 'And, no, money doesn't matter. Just as long as you learn to manage without it. Otherwise you will find it matters a great deal when the bailiffs take your furniture and the landlord kicks you into the street.'
'Harry has his own house,' said Lissy. 'In Bristol. He told me.'
'A man of property, then,' said Julian.

I enjoyed the bantering between Julian and Christiana when they first met, you could feel the chemistry & sparks. Christy gave it to Julian through out the entire book and without it I don't Julian would've come to appreciate things if she hadn't. She doesn't become his bride till abt 3/4 of the book and I have to say till that point not much was happening. There was no social calls (balls), no villians, no jealousy etc. It was very quiet and at times boring. Being the sequal to His Lady mistress (which I'd recomment, great book) I was expecting a little more excitement. J and C come together because of his sister and her brother and yet a lot of questions surrounding them are left unanswered. Yes his sister Lissy no longer wants Harry because he is an illegitimate child but I was expecting more info about them like did she suddenly stop wantig him and did Harry just give up esp after his sister was compromised by Lissy's brother. I was very touched with Christy's illegitimatecy and how lonely she was. She truely was a brave and understanding lady, snubbing the aristocrat off for believing their claimed rights to be wrong on many levels esp on the moral ground of things. I liked that though she was vulnerable she appeared tough and unbreakable and able to stick to her guns no matter her station in life. If your after a quiet afternoons read this would be it.
Entertaining read for a Sunday afternoon

This was a cute series of books. Not quite as engaging as many I've ready, but entertaining for a Sunday afternoon. You definately feel as though the story is complete with this final book about Braybook.

Elizabeth Rolls' books are always good and this is no exception. The chemistry between the two main characters is good and my only criticism is that it appears slightly rushed towards the end.

We met Lord Braybrook in 'His Lady Mistress' but even if you don't already know Julian, he will sweep you off your feet in this one! He is a fantastic hero - witty, charming and smokin' hot. He's well matched with his lovely lady.
