Reader Review: Some books are able to create this intense emotional connection between the readers and the characters--I haven't been able to pin down why--but I know the connection when I feel it. And I didn't feel it here. HOWEVER. These are some well rounded characters--its a great introduction into the Hells Eight crew--some passionate and noble men. And Desi is a fabulous female character--strong and determined. Caine and Desi are able to find compassion in each other and watching them grow is great to watch. So...while I may not have been salivating at each turn of the page--I would read the sweet and sexy story again.. I'd also recommend it! :)

Caine Allen is definitely not the marrying kind. But when he rescues a kidnapped woman and returns her to town, his honor and his desire for Desi won't allow him to let her go.

From the moment he beds Desi, Caine knows turmoil will follow. Desi might have the face of a temptress, but she also has a will of iron. And while she needs his protection, she's determined that no man will control her again. They establish an uneasy bond, but it isn't enough for Caine. All he wants is to keep her in his bed. But with a bounty still on her head, first he must keep her alive.

May 14, 2008: I disagree with several of the reviews. The book made perfect sense to me. Its about an alpha female with a lot of issues, who is at the end of her strength and needs a h...
