Reader Review: I thought this book was great! I really connected with the characters (or, in the case of Hilly, not so much). It was elegantly written, and the story itself was fantastic. It’s one of those books that has a great plotline AND is well-written. Overall, it is a wonderful book and a great read.

Moreover, lots of cool features are now being developed for the reader like advanced video and audio. ePub is now an industry standard, so all of the "non-propreitary" hardware manufacturers are now supporting it. |
Title: The Help October 7, 2012 The book was definitely better than the movie, that's not to say that the creators of the movie did not do a great job, because they really did. It's just that the pesky time limits imposed on movies can really cut out the many great and funny parts of a book. If you are one of the people out there who have seen only the movie, well you have to pick up and read the book. You won't be disappointed that you did. I really think this book should be added to many school curriculum's as a must read. When I was in grade school (I graduated in 2005) we spent a lot of time reading about slavery (both textbooks and some novels). But the teachers never really delved into how hard it was on African American's after they had their freedom. I feel this book is a good representation of how things stood (for the women at least) after they were free.
